Attend one, more or all of these fascinating talks! The talks will be held in the newly renovated multi-purpose centre in the Hermanus New Harbour.
Be sure to come earlier or plan to stay after the talk as there will be an array of interactive exhibits displayed by Mammal Research Institute - Whale Unit; WWF Adopt-a-whale Initiative and the SA Whale Disentanglement Network. Peruse environmental and whale orientated art and selection of marine themed craft.

The ‘Supergroups’ - Dr Elisa Seyboth (25th June 2022, Saturday - 16.00pm)
The Humpback whale ‘Supergroups’ - which visit the coastal area of Cape each year.
SPEAKER: Dr Elisa Seyboth is a Brazilian oceanographer who has been dedicated to research on cetaceans’ ecology in the Southern Hemisphere, especially regarding their habitat use, diet and reproductive success. She currently is a postdoctoral researcher at CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology) and a collaborator of MRI Whale Unit. Elisa is a member of the project EcoPelagos, which is developed under the PROANTAR (Brazilian Antarctic Program) and is the Brazilian representative at the SC-CAMLR (Scientific Committee for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources).

It’s time to Welcome back our Whales! Let’s Wave!
Everyone is invited to participate in the WELCOME WHALES WAVE, a fun cliff-top event which marks the start of the Welcome Whales Celebration 2022.
Welcome the Whales with a big Wave on the Cliff Path between the Amphitheatre and Gearing’s Point on Friday 24 June at 10:00.
The Wave is part of the three-day Welcome Whales Celebration hosted by a collaboration of whale-fanatics, guru’s, scientists, and locals that have teamed up to showcase the area’s diverse marine life, honour the whales and celebrate the ocean.
Your presence is needed to form a wave of humanity along the central waterfront to extend a friendly and enthusiastic welcome to the Southern Right Whales as they migrate back to Walker Bay to mate and calve for the 2022 whale season.
